About The Event

Frontline Farming host a special screening of the new documentary film BR∆VE BLUE WORLD, followed by a Panel Discussion and in depth conversation on the challenges surrounding water on issues such as rights, usage, pollution and conservation  in our times as well as the effects on future generations. We know water is one  of the key essentials of life, so let us do our part to educate ourselves in protecting this precious resource now and in times to come.

Devon G. Peña     

Professor Anthropology, American Ethnic Studies, and Environmental Studies, University of Washington. 

He is a founding member of a non-profit foundation, The Acequia Institute, which is based at the family’s acequia farm in Colorado. The mission of The Acequia Institute is to support and promote sustainable agriculture with social justice in rural and urban Latina/o communities. He manages the foundation's 181-acre 'almunyah' in the bottomlands of Viejo San Acacio, CO. Since 1999 he has served as Professor of American Ethnic Studies, Anthropology, and the Program on the Environment at the University of Washington-Seattle. His next book is Mexican-Origin Foods, Foodways, and Social Movements: Decolonial Perspectives and is forthcoming in October 2016 from the University of Arkansas Press.

Richard D. Kuchenrither

Scholar in Residence • Water Engineering and Management Program Director

Dr. Kuchenrither is the director of the CU Water Engineering and Management Program, focusing on the water profession skills and tools for young professionals, focusing on leadership, communication, utility financials, and management. He is a principal investigator for Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) biosolid research projects and has spent over thirty years managing, leading and directing water and wastewater global projects for Black and Veatch, specializing in biosolids.
